Keri Nelson Breaks Imogene Course Record

9/16, Colorado

The 35th running of the Imogene Pass Run from Ouray to Telluride took place under near perfect conditions. With a sell-out crowd of 1,500 participants, this race takes runners 17 miles from the mountain town of Ouray, over Imogene Pass at 13,115 feet and down into the mountain town of Telluride. For the first time ever, the runners experienced a course closed to recreational vehicles. Last year's winner, Bernie Boettcher of Silt, CO, lost nearly five minutes to Tim Parr of Gunnison on the climb to the summit. However, in true Boettcher fashion, he made almost all of it back on the downhill, finishing a strong second (and first master) in 2:19:08, a new master's course record. Parr was the victor in 2:18:40. Zach Crandell, a running coach from Lafayette (photo, www.summitrunnercoach.com) finished third in 2:26:32.
